I think it's fair to say that we're all really looking forward to this one - And those of us outside the US are hoping that one of our local stations picks it up ASAP, so that we can see it too! So far, I've not heard anything about it being picked up by anyone in the UK, but I've got my fingers crossed VERY firmly! And I'm glad that you're feeling so positive about it, especially given the run of quite bad luck you've had just lately with movie projects.
Maybe once the show hits the screens, it'll shut up all of those bashers and gossip-mongers who've been saying that you never do anything except party. Then again, I guess we all know that they'll find something about you to have a go at - But, if they do, never forget that you've got a loyal army of fans here, who are only too happy to spend a little time helping to correct the balance and show these people the error of their ways!

UPDATED: Authorities In Los Angeles Assisting Mischa Barton Following ‘Medical Issue’
LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Police in Los Angeles were called to assist Mischa Barton with a “medical issue,” on Wednesday afternoon, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told Access Hollywood.
Authorities responded to a non-911 call around 3 PM on Wednesday at the actress’ home. A patrol car responded to the scene and they escorted Barton from her residence to an undisclosed location.
They are “currently assisting” the actress, the LAPD spokesperson told Access. No other individuals were involved in the incident, the spokesperson added.
Reps for Barton were not immediately available for comment.

Mishca, Are U Fine?
I'm surprised U took your wisdom tooth(teeth?) out. Strange to say, "taking wisdom tooth" was the bridge to "U" for me. I rent 5 DVDs just before I took my 3rd wisdom tooth out, filling the time during the days-off for rest after the surgery. And the 5th DVD I chose was the 1st DVD of OC.
I thought the girl playing Marrisa Cooper was very pretty and sweet. But only that.
After about two weeks from then, U were arrested in Los Angeles.. It is ironical that the incident took my attention to U. I don't know why. I think breaking law is bad. I've never done it. But, I felt she had an innocent soul, maybe. I felt she was so poor though she had a pure heart, perhaps.
Now I recognize that my intuition was right. I think whole Mischa Barton is an art. Strangely, I think my intuition's a little UP after taking the 3rd and the last wisdom teeth out. I hope your intuition's UP! But it's still aching now.. Hang on!

Police reportedly respond to star’s L.A. home to assist with ‘medical issue’

LOS ANGELES - Mischa Barton was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold (also known as a 5150) by the Los Angeles Police Department and transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday evening, a source close to the situation claimed to Access Hollywood.
On Wednesday, Access broke the news that authorities had responded to the Los Angeles home of the starlet after receiving a non-911 call from her residence around 3 p.m. A patrol car responded to the scene and began assisting Barton with a “medical issue,” a spokesperson for the LAPD confirmed to Access on Wednesday evening.
The source claimed that Barton was placed under Section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code by police and transported to Cedars-Sinai.
According to the code, authorities can hold a person involuntarily if they present a danger to themselves or others, are gravely disabled or suffer from a mental disorder. This same code was used to hold Britney Spears twice in Los Angeles in January 2008.
When asked about information related to the alleged involuntary hold, an LAPD spokesperson would not comment directly. However, the spokesperson did admit that if any person was held under a 5150, authorities would be prohibited from disclosing the information due to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) laws.
According to the California Welfare and Institutions Code, the hospital can hold Barton involuntarily for up to 72 hours.
A rep for the actress confirmed to Access that Barton will not attend the world premiere of her new film, “Homecoming,” Thursday night in New York, but released no further details on the star.
Additionally, the director of Barton’s film said in a statement that those involved with the movie were “saddened” Barton will not be at the event.
“I along with everyone on the ‘Homecoming’ team are saddened to hear that Mischa Barton will not be able to attend the film’s premiere tonight in New York,” director Morgan J. Freeman said in a statement to Access on Thursday. “Her performance in ‘Homecoming’ is fantastic, and she will be missed at our premiere.”
Sources close to the film told Access Barton was due to fly into New York on Wednesday evening. She had a photo shoot scheduled and was going to head out to the premiere around 3 p.m. on Thursday.
Barton is the star of “Homecoming,” playing Shelby, the ex-girlfriend of a football player in a small town, who does whatever it takes to get her beau back. The film co-stars Jessica Stroup of “90210” and Matt Long of ABC’s “The Deep End.”

Maybe not - If the problem is what it was first said to be (by her rep), and is a problem with her not healing properly after having one or more wisdom teeth out, then that pain can be pretty intense and make it hard to talk properly. And if she can't talk properly, then that would make it hard for her to act, wouldn't it?
We know she had a bad reaction to the antibiotics she was given, and that could be associated with this - If they didn't do their job properly, then an infection could have got in and be causing this issue too.
All we have right now is basically uninformed speculation and rumours of uncertain origin being spread by websites of dubious trustworthyness. Let's wait until Mischa herself tells us what's happening, because that's the only source we can truly rely on, isn't it?
And, until then, why don't we hold off on the speculation and just send her our best wishes for a speedy recovery?

The reports from Access Hollywood and People have been picked up by Reuters, MSNBC and the Los Angeles Times. These are reputable news sources. They are not going to post something if they think it's mere gossip. And it's been over 24 hours. If the report about the LAPD putting Mischa on a psych hold is patently untrue, her official representative would have issued a strongly-worded statement denying it, and that denial would have been posted on several major news sites already. That hasn't happened.

Many normally reputable news sources have been caught out in the past by running stories which later turned out to be untrue and based on gossip, speculation and rumours. And surely you should know by now that Mischa doesn't rise easily to responding to gossip and the like.
Plus, there's no report ANYWHERE which says that Mischa has been put on any kind of psych hold - All there is is the LAPD saying "no comment". But, then again, as anyone who knows anything at all about dealing with the press (as I've had to do in past jobs), a "no comment" is as good as a "yes" to many journalists - even if the real answer is "no", but you're not allowed to say that because of confidentiality or other legal issues... All of that aspect of the story just comes from the wilder speculations of journalists, who are feeling frustrated by the lack of hard facts and feel pressured to write something - even if they know its just speculation and could well be completely wrong.

The pain associated with a dry socket can be moderate to severe in intensity and often has a throbbing component. The pain can be just localized to the extraction site or it may radiate from the extraction site to the patient’s ear or eye (on the same side of their face).
A dry socket, more formally referred to as alveolar osteitis by dentists, is a fairly common complication associated with tooth extractions. The formation of a dry socket involves a scenario where the blood clot which forms in the tooth socket’s after the extraction isn’t properly retained (either it disintegrates by way of fibrinolysis or becomes dislodged). Since this blood clot is an important factor in protecting the boney socket and initiating the healing process, the healing of the extraction site is interrupted and becomes delayed."
So, there you have it - There IS another side to the story, but many sites seem to be ignoring it because they know what their readers want is scandal and dirt, not facts. And, to me, that site seems much more like reliable and responsible reporting than the rubbish I'm reading on the sites you mention...

If she's in the hospital simply because of pain from oral surgery, why were the producers of her movie told that she couldn't attend the premiere because "she was going through personal issues" and that "she's totally unreachable" and they think she's under "total lock and key right now".
How can you be having personal issues and be totally unreachable if it's just a major toothache. It doesn't make sense.

I don't know about the rest of you here, but I feel really mad at the way all of the supposedly reputable websites are reporting what are basically just rumours, and trying to dress them up as facts. And have you noticed how most (if not all) of the sites doing that are ones that don't have a "comments" section where people can post and point out that none of what they're reporting is actually confirmed, and all they're doing is speculating? I'm trying to post where I can, to redress the balance, but it's not easy when a lot of the sites don't seem to want people pointing out that they could well be wrong in what they're saying...
Mischa, I hope you know that, whatever the issue really is, there's a lot of people here who want nothing but to wish you all the best for a speedy recovery. Are we a bit frustrated at the lack of news about you, and exasperated by all of the rumours? Of course we are! But we also understand that there are occasions when you want some privacy - especially if you're going through some hard times and need peace and quiet in order to get through them. So you just work on getting yourself well again, and let us know when you can what the truth really is - If you do indeed want to tell us, as we also understand that there's some things you may want to keep strictly private.

I think it's pretty clear that you can see her face looks quite swollen, and she does look like she's in quite a bit of pain.
You do have to ask why, if this picture has been around for a couple of days, none of the websites have published it, don't you? I think the answer is simple - If they ran a picture which showed Mischa with her face all swollen like that, it would make people question their assertions that the problem was something other than a simple medical issue involving complications from dental surgery, wouldn't it?...

Even here in Brazil, were I live… I’m trying to spread the word out here too but it’s getting quite difficult. I’ve seen the recent photos of Mischa and it seemed pretty painful, I hope she’s alright. These rumors seem to me so plain stupid and I can’t believe that people are buying it. Last week I saw here in Brazil some news implying she gained a lot of weight the last couple of weeks, cause her face looked a lil bloated. And no one questions how a thin girl can put on 40 pounds in a week?!? And now, with people talking about her mental health… That’s just revolting and it makes me sick.

I think it's fair to say that there's a lot of people here and elsewhere who are all quite concerned at the situation, and also by the lack of definite news. There's the same feeling of concern and frustration on my forum as there is here, and people are genuinely worried about all this. It would be great to get some firm news, if only to stop all of the rumours that are going around - some of them quite nasty! But I'm sure we'll hear something soon if we're patient and keep on showing Mischa our love and support.

I really hope everything is ok with you. I read that you may have had complications after oral surgery. That is so strange- I just had oral surgery to remove four impacted wisdom teeth and ended up having two dry sockets. I am sure we can both agree this was an experience we could have lived w/o.
I hope if the reports are true that you were admitted into a physciatric ward, that you are going to be ok. I read that TBL is going to "indirectly" replace Sonja Stone with a charachter tentavily named Jane and that casting is already underway. I wont watch TBL if you are not going to be a part of it. I really hope the reports are not true and you are on every single episode. Also, just know there are lots of people in this world who care about you and adore you. I personally have never seen a more beautiful human being in all my life. Inside and out you are amazing!

I think it's fair to say that much of what you've been reading is just rumours and tabloid speculation. It is true that she missed the Homecoming premiere, and that she's in hospital, but that's about all that's true in most of the stories we've been reading. Haven't seen it confirmed anywhere truly reliable yet, but People.com is reporting that Mischa has now left hospital. If true, I'm sure you'll all agree with me that that's really great news, and a sign that Mischa is on the road to recovery.

I have been in hell due to mental illness. Now I recover, with others help and mainly my will. But to much ignorance on this subject. Yo go to the psychiatrist and you are suppose to be crazy, but, is your social enviroment sane, normal???This woman is beatiful and I watch the OC where I found a story pretty similar to mine. Less drama about all this, better to be hospitalized in a pshy hold than wathcing your premier with your head in outer space....perhaps this is not serious...other say is false....anyway I hope she start doing something about it in case there is some truth in this problem

I hope all's well with you right now. I've just been reading the new "Time Out New York" interview with you - Finally we know the truth about why you were in hospital!
It sounds like you had quite a hard time for a little while there, but you certainly sound like everything is fine again now. And, reading the interview, I can certainly sympathize with you - When I was at school, I went through some really hard times where the pressure really got to me, I had a couple of partial breakdowns, and finally ended up quitting school when I was 17 half-way through my A-Levels. (Fortunately, I was later able to get into university via a foundation year, so it didn't hurt my education in the long run.) I know it may sound a bit daft to anyone who hasn't been through an experience like that, but I really do think that going through all of that bad stuff has actually helped me in the long run and made me a much better person. I now know where my limit is, and what to do when I feel myself getting close to it anytime. Hopefully, it's worked the same for you and, like me, you feel that the experience has made you stronger and maybe helped in other ways you can't quite tell right now, but that will become apparent as time goes by. And I can certainly understand what you say about the pain, as I've been struggling with quite bad back pain just lately, which has sometimes gone down into my legs and made it hard to walk - It's a lot better now, but I still get the occasional twinge... :(
Anyway, I really am glad to you've finally broken the silence about what happened, and hope that it won't be too long before you give us another update here...

Hi Mischa, I was watching oc mostly because of you, when your charachter died I really cried my heart out and even till now when oc comes to my mind I think only about Marrisa, I'm so depressed to live without her :(( In fact I stopped watching after 3rd season, It's like two years since I quit watching OC, but I cant get over her :( After oc I never find a girl unless there's another Marissa somewhere :(( And You did splendid job potraying Marissa, it was truly amazing.
