January 2009 Archives

As I'm sure most of you have already seen, I was photographed at my 23rd birthday party engaging in what most of the gossip blogs refer to as a "girl on girl kiss".  Well I just wanted to take this moment to clear the air by saying that the kiss was purely platonic!  We were joking around and it was taken out of context.

In the spirit of Fashion Week, I thought it was the perfect time to share a few of my favorite fashion images taken of me over the years.

Also, I wanted to thank those of you who left your birthday wishes in comments on my site!  I read all of them and they meant so much to me; it truly made my 23rd birthday so special!

I think that the inauguration today was absolutely incredible. Obama's speech rung so true and is the reason why I made myself an American citizen.

I cried, I won't lie. I cried for the people being hit by our economic crisis, including my friends, and for the people who don't understand the spirit of good Americans. I cried because I had a press day where I had to answer worthless questions about fame and his speech was so right that that has nothing to do with the hard work that made the fabric of the American nation.

Here are two photos of me with my Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain co-star, Martin Sheen.  I am wearing age makeup in both of them. The first photo I'm my regular character and the second one I'm supposed to look 45.

Martin is an incredible human, actor and was my rock through our part of filming. His kindness overwhelmed me, as well as his professionalism and just how down to earth he is. Those are the kind of actors I respect; no matter how famous you get, you remind yourself you're doing what you love to do.  Even when it's grueling and we are re-writing all the lines ourselves, it's fun with someone like him.

Hey guys. Remember how I told you that I slept most nights in a hammock while in Goa? Well here's a video I shot for you after waking up to watch the sunrise.

So this video is obviously a little outdated, as my Christmas vacation in Goa is unfortunately long over. It took me a while to figure out how to upload this video since I'm not exactly computer savvy, but I figured better late than never.

Plenty more videos to come in the next few days so keep checking back!

For those of you who don't already know, I began designing my own handbag line a while back.  I shared a few of the bags in a previous post, and mentioned some of the locations where they could be purchased.  Well now you can purchase them at the line's online store!

I included some photos of the various bags you'll find on the site.  Check out MischaBartonHandbags.com to see more!!!

I would love to hear what you guys think of my line so please give me feedback in comments.

Hey everyone.  I just wanted to tell you all a little more about my time in Goa!

I slept every night outside in a hammock with quilts and pillows and would wake up at dawn.  The hammock was just outside my sisters Zoe's room on the lawn and you could see the ocean. It was heaven! I was in serious need of this sort of break!

I was also doing tons of standard yoga, more for spirituality and the mind -- I love Buddhism.  Here's a quote from the Dalai Lama to think about (if I was to get a tattoo it might be this one!)

"This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness."

I'll post more photos soon!

Here are some photos from my Christmas vacation in Goa.  The ocean there was so beautiful and warm I didn't want to get out.  I would swim all day, ate mostly a vegetarian diet and bought some beautiful things from the vendors I bargained with -- jewelry, saris, you name it.

Christmas was certainly different this year, as I usually ski during the holiday.  But the Christmas display in Goa was beautiful.

Keep checking back because I'll be posting more photos and videos from my time in India over the next few days!
