Thanks for the new update - A bit short, but I guess you're busy with filming and trying to get your unusual Christmas organised!
Walking somewhere in LA? Don't people give you funny looks if they see you doing that?? ;)
My tips for being green? Well, apart from the ones you've come up with, I'd say always try to use energy-efficient lightbulbs whenever you can, as they use so much less power - and make sure you turn them off when you're not using them! Another is to try and make sure your home is properly insulated, so that you don't need to use as much heat to keep warm (Not a problem I guess you have that often in LA!!!!). And if you can get stuff like wind-power or solar energy, they can be a big help too. Also, don't leave things on stand-by if you don't need them, as that uses a lot of power when you don't need to be doing that.
One that people may not think about is using rechargable batteries in things like CD or MP3 players and digital cameras - OK, they're more expensive to buy than disposable ones, especially if you go for good quality, but you really do save money in the long run - and you're not creating a problem by throwing away lots of disposable batteries all full of nasty chemicals that can poison the environment. And if you do as I do and use a solar-powered charger to recharge them, then you're being green twice over!!
If you've got to travel long-distance, then instead of driving, try using public transport instead. If I have to go to London any time, I ALWAYS go by train - It's just as quick as driving there, is a lot cheaper, a lot more relaxing, AND I'm not creating any extra pollution, as the train would be going there whether I was or not!
And for all you drivers out there, then if you really do have to drive somewhere, then turn off the air-con and try opening a window - It's amazing how much fuel you'll save just by doing that!!
And, of course, if it can be recycled, do it! Paper, plastic, metal, wood, kitchen scraps - there's always something they can be used for if you know how and where...
Hope you're having a great time out there in India, and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year!
All my love always,
Adrian.
(And a very Happy Christmas from everyone on Jo's forum too - http://mischaforums.proboards50.com)
Hi Mischa! So for the tips well i love to ride a bike and about an year ago i stay under the showe for 40-50 min but now i stay just 10-15 min you opened my eyes. Thanks for that

I agree with both Mischa and Adrian on most points except on self-power projects like windmills and solar cells and on hybrid and bio-diesel cars.
I disagree with windmills purely because they are nowhere near cost-efficient unless you live in a very windy area like The Netherlands. Solar cells are very expensive and are typically inefficient and not cost-effective. Solar panels however are very much cost-effective and can really make a big difference on savings.
Bio-diesel requires a huge area of farming land, it also makes farmers switch from low-income food production to fuel production, reducing the world's food stocks. Hybrid-power cars like the Toyota Prius cause more damage to the environment than a standard car, proof is provided by clicking my name. Electric powered cars are also very bad for the environment as well as impractical. The best solution we have to the environmental impact of cars is to either have a brilliant public transportation system (not likely), or to fund the advancement in Hydrogen-powered cars. Compressed Hydrogen goes in, water comes out. Also, the impact of mass-electrolosis of water to gather Hydrogen would probably equal the impact of oil, however, once major sustainable power sources are in-action, the Hydrogen industry will probably be sustainable and have a low impact on the environment.
In my house we have good insulation, energy-efficient lightbulbs, our council is brilliant with recycling so we recycle anything we can (except food scraps). I'd like us to do more, but we do live in a Victorian-era house, and we want it to keep as much of its period features as possible.
1 day and 4ish hours 'til Christmas! Merry Christmas everyone!
"we recycle anything we can (except food scraps). I'd like us to do more,"
Do you have a back garden? If you do, then why not get a compost bin - that way, you could recycle the food scraps too...
And you're right about the Prius and other hybrids - The future of cars really is the fuel cell. (Let's face it - NASA used them to provide electrical power when they went to the Moon, and if it's good enough for that, well....) The only real problem is finding the clean power needed to produce the hydrogen in the first place.
Of course, another good clean energy source is geothermal power - already used very effectivly in Iceland, and perfect if you live in the right place!
The truth is that there isn't a single solution for clean energy. What we're going to have to do is pick whichever one is best for each area of the world, and use others elsewhere if they turn out to be the best for the conditions and resources in that area. And we then have to combine that with as efficient and low-impact a lifestyle as possible in order to make the best use of whatever energy we do produce by clean methods.
I have a green tip that I think you gonna like.
When you are having a shower close your bathing-tub and use all the water you spent in your shower to throw in the toilet instead of pulling the flushing cictern.
But if you go to the toilet you just press the standby button and if you come back press it again and you are back on your desktop and you also save power and it doesn't take you as long as booting your computer. ;)
Don't worry about that - Here on the internet, with all the various different cultures, and most people not speaking English as a first language, it's sometimes a miracle that we all know what we're talking about! (And I'm sure that there's times when other people here must wonder just what the hell I'm talking about!!!)
But that's also the great thing about the internet and websites like this, as they really do help bring people from all over the world together in a common cause or interest...
" If you have tips guys let me know" ?? YYaa right!! like you're gonna really read !
why you didn't mention anybody or any opinion in one of your posts? ha ? you keep ask what do you think guys... then you don't discuss anything with us!
Gosh I am addicted on you Mischa, I am mad at you, what are you doing with me? I sleep thinking of you, dreaming about you, open my eyes and think of you...what the hell are you doing with me? I hate you then I love you...does that make a sense? someone tell me please what should I do? the main problem that I am not a teen! I am mature ( I supposed!! )
Oh, look who's here again - and just in time for Christmas too!!!!!
"I sleep thinking of you, dreaming about you, open my eyes and think of you..." - Hmmmmmm, so YOU'RE the one who's been sneaking into my bedroom and listening to me talking in my sleep, are you???........ ;) :)
So you still seem to doubt that it really is Mischa posting here, do you? Well, I guess that puts you firmly in the minority here, because everyone I know doesn't have any doubts at all that it actually is Mischa posting in person. And does it really matter if Mischa does read any of the tips we're all giving? The important thing is that we're sharing them with each other, because we're pooling our knowledge and ALL benefitting from it.
And, as has been pointed out by others in the past, if you seem to hate Mischa as much as you appear to, then why do you keep on visiting her site and posting on it? If I don't like something, and it doesn't directly impact on my life or I think it's irrelevant, I tend to just ignore it, not deliberately go out of my way to draw attention to it. You seem to think that we're wasting our time posting here, but if we are, then what are YOU doing by also posting here too?????? (And I do know how to think for myself - How else could I have got a top honours degree in physics if I didn't know how to think???)
Anyway, despite all the above, I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and I look forward to more of your very entertaining posts in 2009, because this site just wouldn't be the same without you!!!!
Well, I don't hate her just for nothing, I hate her because before I know her, my life was great! just perfectly fine! then I saw her, and I don't know what's about her...she drives me crazy man!
The thing that makes me mad, that there is no fucking hope for meeting her at least and telling her that I am crazy about her, about her eyes, about her lips...just everything about her is wonderful...what is killing me that I am girl ! but I am not lesbian, and ofcourse not BI,I do enjoy men's but when I knew Mischa, she let me have doubts about Who I am.. I've never thought about myself admiring a girl !! noway!
So, that's why I do hate her, do you feel me?
oh gosh i thought that i'm the only girl with this problem.I break up with my boyfriend because of her!!!I'm just crazy about her and this is since 2007 and i'm not a lesbian or BI i'm just crazy about Mischa and now i think to save some money and just leave my country and go to LA or London or Paris wherever i can meet her and i'l do anything to meet her!!!
OK, it seems like I maybe got you confused with our "friendly" persistent Mischa-basher, so I'm really sorry about that....
And I know what you mean about falling totally and utterly head-over-heels in love with Mischa - although it's a bit different for me as I'm a guy. The very first time I saw a picture of her (I actually first found her via the internet, not The O.C. or any of her movies), I just thought she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen, and knew there and then that I wanted to know a LOT more about her.
Why feel this way about Mischa? Well, maybe because she's not only absolutely and totally stunningly beautiful, but also because she's such a wonderful person too - intelligent, kind, caring, sweet-natured, socially-aware, talented, and everything else she is. It's difficult for me to put into words just how I feel about her, although those on Jo's forum who know me could probably tell you how they see my feelings as expressed in my posts there, and the absolute torture I go through at times...
Is it an obsession? Probably not, as I don't let it rule my life. However, I do make sure to check-in here and at Jo's forum every day, and I'll always do whatever I can to help protect and defend Mischa's name and reputation - Not because I'm "obsessed" with her, as some may say, but because I respect her as both a person and an actress, and hate to see spiteful people insulting or posting lies about her.
Would I like to meet her, so that I can tell her what joys she's given me, and how much she's helped me when I've been feeling down? Of course I would. And would I move mountains to make it happen if I thought the chance was there? You bet I would!!
But, at the same time, it's important that we don't lose our grip on reality, because there's far more serious problems in the world today than how we feel about Mischa and if we're ever going to have the chance to meet her in person. So we do need to retain a sense of balance in our lives, don't we? And I'm sure that's what Mischa would want too, and probably say to you given the chance...
Anyway, enough of the heavy sh*t - It's gone midnight here now, so:
Woww! thanks Adrian, that was nice and kind of you, I am trying to get over my Mischa's endless love..and back normal as much as I can.
Yana : it seems like we're not the only girls who's having this confusing problem!
I had refused many invitations to go out to have fun and guess why? all I want it is to stay home and playback all Mischa's videos and most of her series scenes (OC, Once and again) with my headphones! I know that is weird but I can't help it, I wish I could...
i've got season 1-4 of the O.C this christmas, love it already. you have such a beautifull hair, and wow, i love your look. wish I was an actor and looked like that! merry christmas, and good luck with everything you do. hugs from a norvegian fan.
Well, I hope everyone had a really great (and very green) Christmas!!!
Some quick Christmas eco-tips:
If you've got a real tree, then look at getting it recycled when you're done with it - a lot of local councils have places where you can take them to be turned into wood chippings for use on gardens.
Don't just throw your old cards away - They can also be recycled, as can a lot of wrapping paper.
Make sure all the many bottles and cans your family have drunk over the holiday go to be recycled as well.
And Mischa, I hope you've managed to have your family Christmas there in India, and had lots of really nice presents from everyone.
Looking forward as always to your next update here...
About being green, I agree with your and Adrian tips, I totally like riding my bike and walking and I also hate when people let the water run when they aren't using it.
I wanted to add that the other day, while I was looking at an argentinian magazine I found a page that talked about beautiful eyes and it showed some examples.. So I thought '' Mischa's eyes should be shown'' and when I looked at the down-right corner I saw your photo and your eyes photo.
I'm glad that people can realise how beautiful you are even here at Argentina.
Gon - I'm glad to hear about the picture in the magazine article! It proves that Mischa truly is an international beauty!!!
Mischa - To me, your eyes are one of your most beautiful features. They're always so bright and expressive, and you really can see a true sense of fun lurking behind them. Having said that, I think that everything about you is beautiful, and I'm not just talking about physical beauty here - You have a truly beautiful personality too, and that's even more important than what's on the outside.
So did you have a good Boxing Day (do you even celebrate that?).
i'm so glad you're "going green!" it is obviously so important and necessary, but especially since people look up to you (me included!) and want to follow your example.
i am part of a non-profit environmental organization called "teens turning green" which advocates for policy change and educates the public about the toxic synthetic chemicals used in bodycare and makeup products. we also just help people - tees especially! - turn all aspects of their lives "green!"
so one way to "go green" is to support companies that use ingredients in their bodycare and makeup products that are healthy for you and the environment.
Hi! We are from finland and we love O.C.! We would like to ask that how did you get to so famous actress? Do you have fan meetings ever? We would so like to meet you.. :)
You are so beautiful and we appreciate that you are so kind to African children, I´m just going there for six weeks to Kape Town.
hoping that you will answer to us. Sonja and Annukka
hey Mischa!
thnx alot 4 the tips and stuff I'll definitely use them and you are so true about the people driving in L.A. and stuff I mean I don't live in America but I know (almost) everything that goes around with these stuff in driving and all that!
You should really come to Egypt its a very good country although you can't really stand living here after you moved out from Dubai and stuff! But you should really try coming!
I feel so good letting this out because I've like almost not shared it with like any1 (except my B.F.F's) I am not so glad that I haven't settled anywhere yet with my family and stuff! I mean since I was exactly 2 years old we traveled along 14 countries but non of them seem to fit well..ME!
Except for England-London, France-Paris, and Emirates-Dubai.
I wish I could actually try staying somewhere where I feel like it's actually home!
Anyway it's only like my 3-4 year in Egypt..I think?!(confused)
Thnx again for the tips!
Become a vegetarian or be bold, and become a vegan. The dairy and meat industries are the largest contributors to greenhouse gases in the world. Oh and also lobby your government to get on board with the Copenhagen 2009 Climate Treaty. To save the environment everyone needs to get involved and hit the streets. Don't just talk about 'going green'- demand real action. Live sustainably. Walking is a great place to start. Walk straight to Washington with a sign that demands action on the environment. Just like your style suggests Mischa, 60's-70's 'hippie chic'- those men and women demanded the war in Vietnam should end, young people have to do the same now- for the sake of the environment. People won't willingly do anything until it costs more money. Gas consumption is down because the prices were too high- not because people wanted to use less.
Mischa, I'm from Argentina and it's my first time visiting your page. I must say I found it really great and you seem a down to earth person and pretty common. It's kind of difficult por me to write in English but I just want it to tell you how much I admire you! You are gorgeous but also lovely and very talented. I hope you can read this and know that here a bit far away there are lots on fans who really support you.
Have an excellent year and life,
Love, Agos
it`s so importent to take the environment seriously. it`s make me happy to si that you do! and it`s so great that you are living some simple tips to what we chould do better! i think you are an amazing girl. is this realy your website? im totaly depended on The Oc! you are just fab as Marissa!
Love from Norway!
Dearest miss Barton,
Thankyou for some Green tips, like "P.G.tips"
If you only boil your kettle half the time and just have a luke warm Tea,you would be saving Electricity.
But i reckon if everyone in California held their Breath for 1 minute per day, they would be saving Oxygen, and then we could chop down some more of the Rain Forest.
Also with water, just have a bird bath in the sink, instead of a shower, like "Lindsay Lohan" and we could all do are bit,and go Green.
Thanks for sharing,
Love from Jerome
Of course acting for the environment is very important.
If we don't ensure the world stays inhabitable it won't even matter if we try to end famine or act for equality (international as well as interpersonal).
Personally, I have chosen not to get a drivers license/car so as to not even have the temptation of unneccesary driving.
I walk or use communal transport anywhere I need to get to and it is remarkably often I get where I am trying to go *faster* than the ones with cars.
Of course I don't eat meat either, but I also do my best to avoid leather details in clothing and such wherever that is practically possible.
Buy local.
Transporting food and other goods long distances is in most cases absolutely unnecessary and puts a lot of strain on the environment.
Besides, getting ecologically grown food straight from the farm makes me more sure that I can trust the food to be good and not produced using unaccetable practises (child labor or unfair wages).
One final thing: Don't just recycle, reuse.
Don't throw paper away because it has been used once on one side, turn the page.
Use soft drink bottles to bring tap water from your home instead of buying water that has been transported from another continent.
Loved those tips<3
For the car thing, ok, I can't even drive cause I'm 16 XD
But before I take the bus I take the walk<3
Bus is only for long ways to friends or so on..x.x
But I think even riding the bus is healthier for the environment than the car cause in a bus there are many people using 1 bus but in a car only 4-5 people fit in..
Damn, you should have made only and audio cuz I don't really care what were you talking about I tried to focus on the issue but I couldn't, you're to pretty girl, my bad, sorry.
hi mischa! thank you for this tipse. I just use the auto, I almost always travel by foot. I like walking.
happy holidays *__*
a kiss from italy

I have a green tip that I think you gonna like.
When you are having a shower close your bathing-tub and use all the water you spent in your shower to throw in the toilet instead of pulling the flushing cictern.
Merry Christmas All!!
Another tip for going green is to put your computer on standby when you don't use it.

Or, even better, turn it off completely...

So we do need to retain a sense of balance in our lives, don't we? And I'm sure that's what Mischa would want too, and probably say to you given the chance...
Anyway, enough of the heavy sh*t - It's gone midnight here now, so:
HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow there is some really weird people commenting!
hey mischa! its isabella, I like to turn off lights as much as I can to be "green"

Not weird - just passionate and devoted... ;)
And yes, let's try and get back on-topic here.....
Woww! thanks Adrian, that was nice and kind of you, I am trying to get over my Mischa's endless love..and back normal as much as I can.
OK guys lets come back to the topic-The green tips .Here are 50 green tips visit this website http://www.divinecaroline.com/article/22355/28177
No problem at all!! - I mistook you for someone else, and I was sorry about that and felt it only right that I appologise for it...
And Happy Christmas!!!!!
Eu náo me lembro mas teve um astro do cinema com o seu sobrenome.
i've got season 1-4 of the O.C this christmas, love it already. you have such a beautifull hair, and wow, i love your look. wish I was an actor and looked like that! merry christmas, and good luck with everything you do. hugs from a norvegian fan.
What a multi-national band we are here!!
All my love always,
Adrian.
Hi again, Mischa!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND AN EVEN BETTER NEW YEAR.
Take care.
Hope you're having a great time over the holiday,
All my love always,
Adrian.
hi mischa!
i'm so glad you're "going green!" it is obviously so important and necessary, but especially since people look up to you (me included!) and want to follow your example.
i am part of a non-profit environmental organization called "teens turning green" which advocates for policy change and educates the public about the toxic synthetic chemicals used in bodycare and makeup products. we also just help people - tees especially! - turn all aspects of their lives "green!"
so one way to "go green" is to support companies that use ingredients in their bodycare and makeup products that are healthy for you and the environment.
peace,
hannah

hoping that you will answer to us.
Have an excellent year and life,
Love, Agos
Hi!

Well greets and kisses from germany<3
Jess~
Damn, you should have made only and audio cuz I don't really care what were you talking about I tried to focus on the issue but I couldn't, you're to pretty girl, my bad, sorry.
