For those of you who don't already know, I'm involved with an
organization called Save the Children. Save the Children is committed
to helping impoverished children and their families in the United
States, as well as all over the world.
So I recently spent some time in South Africa, where I visited a primary school in Soweto. Many of the children there are orphans or are infected with the AIDS virus. The kids and I read together, I helped serve them their lunch, and then after school my boyfriend at the time and I drove one of the little boys home. Just seeing where these children come from and the lives that they lead really opened my eyes to how much there is to be done in the world.
It truly was a life changing experience and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time with these children. I have every intention of returning in the near future.
I just wanted to share some of my personal photos with you guys, and hopefully they will inspire you to go out and get involved.

Wow, that must have taken a lot of guts, and have been really difficult to put up such a strong front in the face of something so terrible. I mean, people complain about their lives so much, but do not understand just how lucky they are, and how privileged they are, not just with money, but the ability to act and to change people's lives. I have phenomenal respect for charity workers and philanthropists, to put others before themselves for the good of mankind. Not forgetting the bravery of the children that have to fight through poverty, disease, malnutrition and dehydration just because of the selfishness of the wealthiest countries.

Hi Mischa, I like to see you involving with SAVE THE CHILDREN. Last year I went to Kenya and I've done a similar experience. I and my friends visited a village called Ukunda that is very poor, but we were surprised to see that the person were happy, and this is great...

I love the fact that you are helping children, i would love to do the same in the future.
