So I just received this photo from Save the Children and I wanted to
share it with all of you! I knitted this cap a few weeks ago which was
then delivered to Ethiopia and given to an expectant mother who was
waiting to give birth in her incredibly primitive home.
The baby was delivered with the help of a birth attendant that had been trained by Save the Children. The birth attendant put the cap on the newborn's head in order to prevent hypothermia, and then snapped this photo.
What do you guys think of my knitting skills?

Hey...
so cute yours knitted cap...
i love your website.
And I´m so happy to see this side of your life.
xoxo
Aww! That's great! Yay to your own website! Finally! :D
It's great what you are doing for charity but the hat is vile, well and truly VILE. Knitting skills? I don't think you have any.
I think it's a really cute hat, I love it! And, Mischa, thank you for opening your own official website! I think it's awesome that we can "contact" with you in some way.
I LOVE you!
Aww, don't listen to the haters! I think the hat is well cute, and your knitting skills are awesome! It's nice to see celebrities giving something back to charity!
Hi,
The gesture is nice, and the hat is cool. I'm neither poor nor a baby or even Ethiopian, but I'd like to have the same one.
That being said, if you had posed naked instead and sold the pictures you could have raised a *lot* of money while spending the same amount of time.
You're hot and famous, which is much less common than being a good knitter: don't be afraid of using whatever assets of yours yield the best results!
It's really cute that you knitted a cap to a baby and I love how much you're involved in charity
Hey! I think your knitting skills are great, but what I love the most is that the little baby will have a warm head now, It is so sad to see the conditions some people live isnt it??? It makes us appreciate what we have so much!!
btw, visit my website! maybe you´ll like it ;)

Mischa,
I love what you do for charity! You really are such a "giving" person, and that's one of the things I, and everyone else on my forum (http://mischaforums.proboards50.com), really loves about you. Please take no notice of the rude and crude comments above (and I'm sure there'll be some more posted later, so ignore the ones below too...) - It's a gorgeous hat, and much better than I could ever do!!
You're a wonderful person, and we love hearing all about the stuff you do for all the different charities, so please keep on posting it...
yeah, your knitting skills are great. :)
love you mischa, can´t wait to see the next updates on your beautiful website.
Mischa, this is a beautiful hat *____*

What a wonderful cause! The baby is so cute and so is the cap.
Your site looks great. I look forward to reading your future posts!
"I knitted this cap a few weeks ago which was then delivered to Ethiopia and given to an expectant mother who was waiting to give birth in her incredibly primitive home."-- good job! but the baby looks asian....are you sure this was in Ethiopia?
Hey mischa,
The little hat is so cute ;)
Your website is really great and it's nice to see some 'intimate' pics of you
<3
Hehe that knitted hat is cute, great job Mischa! A very nice gesture, and im sure it will be put to good use!
Keep up the great work.
P.S. Ignore the haters, don't let them get you down!
Hi, Mischa!
I'm Adrian, and I'm another of the ones who posts on Jo's forum (http://mischaforums.proboards50.com).
We all love how you do all the charity work. This world is too full of self-obsessed celebrities who care only about themselves, and who only get involved in charity work when one of their "people" tells them it may help their image. But you're different, because we can all see that you genuinely do care about all of these projects and causes, and you want to tell others about them so that they can also help to make a difference. You don't do it for the publicity or to boost your image - you do it because you genuinely care and want to help out in the best way you can. It's just a shame that the gossip-mongers and bashers can't see that the same way as we do...
This crazy world certainly could do with a few more like you - although I know there will never be another quite as stunningly beautiful as you. It's such a shame that others don't see you the way we do. Not only are you without a doubt the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, but you're also fantasically talented, kind, caring, funny, stylish, and very intelligent - And that's why we all love you so much. It's not just the fact that you are so amazingly beautiful, but also because you're such a wonderful person too, and that's why I feel truly honoured to call myself one of your devoted fans.
All my love,
Adrian.
Hat's nice, although the were-baby probably has enough hair to get through the night, as long as it's not a full moon. Then it would eat the mid-wife.
hahaha omg
that is so cute
Oh mischa! I do love you so much! I think you're gorgeous, have great fashion sense and you're just so so cool!
You take part in campaigns, help the less fortunate and increase awareness of the the plight in Africa and that's all so cool.
But i really do wish you would quit smoking because smoking is the most inconsiderate act on earth, this whole spreading cancer by passive smoking thing. It makes you hypocritical doing good in one way, yet harming the others around you. And being photographed with a cancer stick so does not rock.
I'm still your fan though. Love you loads!
That would be daring. I would have to respect the Hollywood starlet who has the balls to try it.
Knitting skills?
They suck.
Um. Your gesture losing all credibility because you just called that mother "PRIMITIVE." How horribly ignorant. People might be poor or simply just not westernized, but they aren't monkies you idiot.
Lindsay,
If you read what Mischa wrote, she didn't call the baby's mother "primitive", she said that her home was - so she was describing the conditions people have to live in, not the people themselves. And if you check in a dictionary, you'd see that's a pretty valid description of living conditions in that part of the world. Here's part of what it says in my dictionary when you look up the word:
"2. Characterised by simplicity or crudity; unsophisticated."
Compared to the conditions enjoyed by those of us who live in the developed world, the conditions experienced by people living in most parts of Africa ARE extremely simple, crude and unsophisticated, so I'd say Mischa's description of the mother's home as being "primitive" was pretty valid and accurate.
(Don't worry, Mischa - Those of us who post on Jo's forum are used to defending you in the gossip blogs and other sites, and I'm sure we'll continue to do exactly the same here too... )
Adrian.
I guess it was for a good cause BUT the hat is really ugly. Poor little baby that has to wear it!
your knitting skills are great :) aw, so cute!
hey mischa. i think its awesome what you've done. both the knitting, the helping but mostly the starting a blog. i think more of you should do it to prevent all the roumors from escalating. i know, not much time to write and update, but still. props to u! alice from sweden
Why cant u people be honest the hat is affreux!
i believe you have no clue where ethiopia lies, because even if i was told that this was an ethiopian baby, i'd doubt it..unlesss..it's a baby adopted by ethiopians, but of foreign origin..
but to conclude, i find it good of you to be knitting..better yet..if i were you, i'd spend JUST a months salary paying some knitter to knit about..oh i don't know...like 100 000 hats...it doesn't have to be missoni..and you'd probably have to pass on this season's gazzilionth IT-bag, and then 100 000 babies in...'ETHIOPIA' ...would be wearing hats...think about it...it would even be easier than actually knitting..and if you actually enjoy knitting, then you'd probably get 100 005..hats..even better!
That's the cutest thing ever! How sweet of you to knit a hat, knitting's hard too!
Joey xx
Mischa its so cute!!!
Your such a big inspiration and I'm glad you have a website now.
Your so talented and your just amazing!'
A huge fan of yours Meesh!
primitive was the wrong word to use. period. no one really cares, its not a big deal, but if you going to be doing charity work in other countries, get your vocabulary right. or only call peoples' living quarters primitive behind their backs. primitive implies that someone or something is less, and that less could be translated as being barbaric.
just find a better word, and then youll be better a doing some good old celebrity charity work.
I think the baby and the hat are really sweet. And together they're even a litttle bit sweeter.

Hey Mischa!
The hat is pretty adorable, i love it hehe Your doing an amazing job with save the children, i'm involved in similar things myself but just in my spare time as i'm still at uni. I don't know an awful lot about save the children, could you possibly give me any more information? I would love to hear some of your experience. I've spent 4 months in Kenya and a total of 4 months in Burma helping out in Orphanages and schools with various organisations. I absolutely love it, it is so rewarding just to see a little child smile or tell you they love you.
Take care
Love Hannah x
